Music is more than entertaining. It has the power to heal, to soothe and calm, to energize and uplift. But it also has the ability to irritate the nerves and make our guests feel tense and out of sorts. Marriott Hotels has developed different playlists for different day parts that cover genres most current and in tune with today’s consumer.

Use the approved music vendors (by continent).

Ensure the playlist is appropriate for your market and Greatroom type.

Customize the playlist by time of day with assistance from the music vendor.

Establish optimal volume settings by day part.

MERCHANDISING

GOAL

Polished presentations of the AM and PM offerings, back bar displays and barkeeping tools send a strong message to the guest regarding the level of quality and service they can expect. An attractive, well-merchandised space can encourage impulse purchases and promote upselling opportunities.



ACHIEVING RESULTS

Establish and document an AM and PM merchandising strategy for the back bar, front bar, coffee station (if applicable) and AM retail food offering (if applicable).

Ensure all signage, menus, reader boards and tablets are professionally produced and in pristine condition.

To use lighting to create spaces that embody the mood and ambiance that MH aspires to provide for guests.

Lighting is a powerful and effective way to transform public spaces. Thoughtful lighting provides focus, creates drama and sets the overall ambiance of the public space.


ACHIEVING RESULTS

  • Program light settings by day part using electrical lighting.
  • Make use of natural light.
  • Ensure that accent lighting highlights architectural features, textures and, most importantly, the beacon of the Greatroom – the bar.
  • Use candles, votives and lanterns to enhance the overall ambiance of the Greatroom in the evening hours.
